The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas does more than feed the hungry; we deliver immediate aid and nurture futures with education and skills training.
The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas sprouted from modest roots.
The Food Bank of North Central Arkansas started as the Norfork Community Care Program, serving flood victims and rescue workers in 1982. With the help of volunteers and the Salvation Army, Alice and Hubert Ayers established a soup kitchen. Today, the Food Bank distributes 4.5 million pounds of food annually as an Affiliate Member of Feeding America Food Bank, with a focus on education for the communities served.
Feeding America states that roughly 5.2 million pounds of food would be required annually to fill the meal gap in North Central Arkansas. In 2023, we distributed more than 4 million pounds of food to address the need.
